Press release on the 18th of February 2015:

The first mobile travel guide to focus on Berlin’s districts

Starting today, Berlin can be explored with the help of the new digital travel guide. The new free app “Going Local Berlin” by visitBerlin offers Berlin visitors as well as Berliners orientation in the neighborhoods of the capital and provides many tips that help users to discover new aspects of the city.

“The new app includes personal recommendations by Berlin experts,” says Burkhard Kieker, managing director at visitBerlin. “Our goal is to offer inspiration to the increasing amount of people who have been to the city before. With the help of the digital travel guide, visitors have the chance to get a new perspective on this city.”

For the first time, the app offers an introduction to all twelve districts of Berlin and their respective specialties. For the start, the app will present 60 neighborhoods with more than 600 tips. These tips are handpicked by the visitBerlin team in cooperation with the Berlin districts. In addition to that, the application offers a video tour for each district that offers an insight into the atmosphere and the highlights of the individual districts. Tips are organized within the categories “must-see,” “hidden places” and “food and drinks.”

The app gives users the opportunity to communicate tips to visitBerlin and which additions to the app they would suggest, so that visitBerlin can cooperate with its users when it comes to the expansion of the app. The new mobile travel guide is directed specifically towards visitors who have visited Berlin one or more times already and would like to see more than the traditional sights.
